6 Reasons Why Martial Artists Have More Fun
When was the last time you truly let yourself go and had fun without worrying about how silly you looked, or what others thought about you? It doesn’t matter how old you are, or what you do for a living – we believe that everyone (yes, including you!) deserves to have fun. After all, life is too short to wait for happiness when it is within your reach. All you have to do is learn to live in the moment and enjoy the adventure that we call “life”.
For those who already practice martial arts, or know people who do, one thing’s for sure: martial artists always have more fun – be it in or out of the gym. Want to find out why?
1) Because they constantly engage in something they enjoy
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enables a small person to overcome bigger, stronger opponents.
It’s no secret that you’ll have fun when you get to do what you love doing. Martial artists have already found something they love: training! There’s a reason why they’re more than happy to head to the gym on such a regular basis – despite having to juggle training with work, school, or other commitments.
When you’re pursuing a passion or chasing your dreams, you’d definitely have fun along the way. Also, the good days would always outweigh the bad ones.
2) Because training boosts their endorphin production
There are many different aspects to martial arts & fitness training
Have you ever noticed that you feel good after a workout? Well, that’s how martial artists feel every time they hit the gym! Apart from being an outlet to vent their stress and frustrations, martial arts also increases the body’s endorphin production and reduces cortisol (a type of stress hormone)!
When you’re in a good mood, everything becomes more fun. After all, nothing can get in your way when you feel great! So don’t be surprised when you find that you can’t help but smile after an intense martial arts class.
3) Because they have an awesome group of friends

The reason why martial artists have so much fun with their training buddies is because good company can make even the most mundane activities fun! When you train on a regular basis, there’s no doubt you’d gain a circle of close friends who not only train with you, but also have fun with you when you’re off the mats. These are lifelong friends that you’ll always have an unbreakable bond with. And yes, you’d all have lots of fun both in and out of the gym!
4) Because they’ve learned to be present in every moment
Competition is just another way in which you can further your Martial Arts training.
Not all of us can truly be present in the moment, especially when there are things that occupy our minds – be it our worries, plans, or simply what we wish to eat for dinner. Unfortunately, this gets in the way of having fun because we can’t truly focus and enjoy whatever’s in front of us.
Fortunately, martial arts trains you to make every moment count and focus on whatever’s in front of you. Hence, you’d be able to seize the day, and get the most out of every moment. What’s more, martial artists are also able to appreciate life’s simple pleasures – such as having a cheat meal after weeks of eating clean. By being easily pleased, you’re bound to have more fun in general.
5) Because they always look on the bright side of life

Optimism is one of the amazing traits you’ll develop when you train martial arts. Besides helping you to overcome your training obstacles, it’ll also enable you to get through your toughest days. After all, every cloud has a silver lining.
As martial artists are optimists, they’re probably the happiest people you’ll ever meet. And it’s because of this trait that they’re always able to find the fun in every situation and ultimately have a good time – no matter where they are or what they’re doing.
6) Because they’re always up for anything
Martial Arts positively influences many other areas of your life.
Ever notice that sometimes you have the most fun when you spontaneously decide to do something and then follow through with it? Whether it’s going on that diving trip or taking part in that obstacle course race, there’s no doubt that martial artists are always up for anything. After all, they’ve learned to adapt to all kinds of situations and thrive outside their comfort zone.
As we mentioned earlier in #4, they’re able to live in the moment – and this helps them to embrace their adventurous side and just try everything. Hence, it comes as no surprise that they end up exposing themselves to all kinds of situations, and yes, having heaps of fun in the process!
So tell us, are you ready to go on the most exciting adventure of a lifetime?
